Dear Sir,

Can you please explain the philosophy and use / application of Mean Value Theorem?

1. Rolle
2. Lagrange
3. Chauchy

Why there are three different versions?
Thanks

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question. It appears that you believe you have listed the names of three different "versions" of the Mean Value Theorem (MVT), and are wondering about the differences between them and/or the need for three different versions.

However, Rolle's Theorem is not the same thing as the Mean Value Theorem; it is a generalization (an expansion) of it. Cauchy's MVT is an expansion of the "regular" (or Lagrangian) MVT, using two functions instead of one. Also, when each of these is taught, their differing contexts imply their differing uses.

Please clarify your question. When you reply, please include your thoughts so far.

Thank you! :D

What does this theorem means.
Where are the applications.
Try to give reply as if you are explaining to a lay man.
