Hi, im having trouble with this. I finally understand the problems (for the most part) but some how i got x - 4 - 4 when the answer is x - 4 +44/p+6

This is polynomial long division.

x^2+2x+20 / x+6
........x - 4
........__________
x+6 / x^2+2x+20
.......-x^2 - 6x
...............- 4x+20
.................4x-24 < wait... i messed up here.
......................-4 < im stuck here, how do i divide 4 by x?

OKAY! i got it, i had a brainfart. sorry.

[x^2+2x+20] / [x+6]=[x-4] + 44/[x+6]

or another way add and subtract 44
{[x^2+2x+20-44]+44 } / [x+6]
{[x^2+2x-24]+44}/[x+6]
{[x+6][x-4] +44} / [x+6]
[x-4] + 44/[x+6]
