This question is for bonus. I think my teacher got it out of a book called "Lateral Thinking Puzzlers". The question is something like this, "A woman sitting across the table from her two sons is talking to them. They talk back. They never speak a word to each other, though. They are both physically capable of speaking to each other". Our only clue was that they wanted to talk to each other, but they could not. I was thinking that maybe they speak different languages or something, but that doesn't really make sense.

Hmmm...perhaps there's a computer involved; like, she sees them on a computer
across the table; but the 2 sons are at different places; cam's are involved;
she can talk to each directly and they can answer her; but there's no phone
connection linking the 2 sons....well, something like that :wink:

Not real proud of it but...
They are prisoners in two sound proof booths talking to her over phones.
Still thinking.

What if they are talking about math?

It says they are "talking" but they do not say "a word" to each other... so maybe its just numbers?

Seems like something a math teacher might say.

Unfortunately, the solutions to puzzlers like this often depends heavily on the exact phrasing of the question, something we do not have.

Without the exact text, we could be going far astray from what the author intended (such as assuming that the sons are deaf and are using sign language with each other instead of verbal speech, whilst lip-reading what their mother is saying).
