I hit a wall, I have solved this one before but now im going completelt blank.

(2x+1) / (2x-1) =-6
I have tried every trick i know but always end up with lg of s negative number or xlg2-xlg2 so i dont know how to solve this one at all.

(2x+1) / (2x-1) =-6

(2x+1) / (2x-1) - 1 = -7

2 / (2x-1) = -7

Now continue......

That makes no sense.

How does adding -1 on both sides get rid of 2x+1?

Ok that gives me the right answer but i dont understand how you go form adding -1 on both sides to going from (2x+1) to 2.
