Use logarithms to solve the equation. (Round the answer to four decimal places.)
7(1.08^3x + 1) = 14

X=____

I thought the answer was 2.6667 but I was counted wrong. Any other answer?

As written "7(1.08^3x + 1) = 14" actually means 7(1.083x+1)=14\displaystyle 7(1.08^3 x + 1) = 14.

I think you mean 7(1.08^(3x) + 1) = 14 which means 7(1.083x+1)=14\displaystyle 7(1.08^{3x} + 1) = 14.

Or do you mean 7(1.08^(3x + 1)) = 14 which means 7(1.083x+1)=14\displaystyle 7(1.08^{3x + 1}) = 14?

To be more specific you need to use parenthesis. Why don't you show us your work so we can see where you went wrong?

I actually just figured it out. The answer is 2.6688. I was off on the rounding. Thanks for the help anyway.

7(1.083x+1) = 14\displaystyle 7(1.08^{3x}+1) \ = \ 14

By inspection it should be obvious that x = 0.\displaystyle By \ inspection \ it \ should \ be \ obvious \ that \ x \ = \ 0.

Its actually not that problem, it is the 3rd on listed.

7(1.08^(3x+1))=14
