Evaluate the logarithmic equation for 3 values of x that are greater than 1, 3 values of x that are between 0 & 1, & at x = 1.Use the resulting ordered pairs to plot a graph.State the equation of the line asymptotic to the graph (if any):y = log _1/7 x.Hope this problem is understood. It is the only way I know how to enter it.

Hi jamjam,

I assume you're trying to graph \(\displaystyle y=\log_{\frac{1}{7}}x\).

I used the change of base formula to generate a table of values for x as you have indicated and solved for y. You can plot these ordered pairs and see what the graph looks like.

\(\displaystyle y=\frac{\log x}{\log \frac{1}{7}}\)

Code:
x | y
----------
.1 | 1.18
.2 | .83
.3 | .62
1 | 0
2 | -.36
3 | -.56
4 | -.71

The function has a vertical asymptote at x = 0.

Plot the points first, and then connect them with a smooth curve.
