Although u can plug and chug into your calculator, this question seems like it's meant to be solved analytically.

I got to:

Actually, my first post above is what I have done on the exercise. If there had actually been time taken to read the link that you posted, It would be clearly noted that I am the author of that post and the tutor is quoting me.

Anyways, his answer is still not so clear to me and I am open for someone explaining what he means.

Note that 5 is less than twice 3, while 11 is more than twice 5. in other words, b has the task of increasing the base 5 a larger magnitude (relatively speaking) than a has to do for 3. b is larger
