last year, the kitchen ran at a loss and had to be subsidised by woerdon council. this cost tem £3,432. They hope that the extra visitors to the exhibition will buy enough drinks and snacks to lessen the losses this year. The catering manager hopes to make atleast £1700 extra profit over the three weeks. if their losses would have been the same this year without an exhibition, how much would this extra profit from the exhibition leave the council in the red this year?

I thought I just take £1700 from £3432 but I was wrong... Not looking for a straight up answer but the method for working it out.

This response is a little lengthy and indirect. We ask in our guideline that you give the exact wording of the exercise and show your work on it. There are good reasons for those requests.

Your approach to the problem seems reasonable if I understand the problem. But I am not sure I do understand the problem because I have not seen it. Rather I have seen your paraphrase of it. If you made a mistake in interpreting the problem, that mistake will carry over to your paraphrase. Please quote the exercise completely and exactly so I can make sure that we are interpreting the problem correctly or that the problem is not ambiguous (which sometimes happens).

Moreover, your approach to the problem may be correct, but you made a mistake in the arithmetic. I have no way to know if you do not specify what results you got. Please tell us your answer and how you got it.

It is possible that your approach and answer are correct, and the answer section is wrong. I don't know because you have not told us what answer the answer section gave.

We truly want to help. But we could so more quickly and better if you give the problem exactly and completely and show your work. Thanks.

Hi Jeff,

Because when I put this into the answer section of my E learning the result came up wrong ?
There is a possibility that your e-learning is wrong, but we can't be sure until you give us the full problem, and more information on the context.
