A, B, C are points on a line with AB = 8.4 in., BC = 2.9 in.
What is the length of AC if (a) B is between A and C, (b) C is between A and B?

Ok, so now do I have to subtract the points, this is really confusing to me. Please help!!!

Assuming you mean "lengths" rather than "points", then, for one of the parts, yes; for the other part, no.
