A linear relation is given by: x+ky=6. find the value of k if the x-intercept if 5 more than than y intercept.

Help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Hello, johnnahl!

\(\displaystyle \text{Given: }\:x+ky\:=\:6\)

\(\displaystyle \text{Find the value of }k\text{ if the x-intercept is 5 more than than y intercept.}\)

\(\displaystyle \text{I have to ask: }\;\begin{array}{c}\text{Do you what an intercept is?} \\ \text{Do you know how to find one?} \end{array}\)

\(\displaystyle \text{The x-intercept is: }\:(6,0)\)

\(\displaystyle \text{The y-intercept is: }\left(0,\;\frac{6}{k}\right)\)

. . \(\displaystyle \text{Therefore: }\;6 \;=\;\frac{6}{k} + 5 \quad\hdots\quad \text{Got it?}\)
