Journal entries are in my own words
I believe we're all familiar with what "journal entries" are; thank you.

i would not be able to take word for word information posted here in the message boards.
Your browser doesn't allow you to copy-n-paste...? You're not on a computer connected to a printer...?

I was hoping to gain more information on these topics
As has been mentioned, we cannot teach courses here. If you're looking for lessons from which to study this material (that isn't in your book, for some reason?), then we'll be glad to try to find you some links. But some of your questions are so incredibly broad as to be unanswerable. It would be helpful if you provided some input, above and beyond just the text of the question.

This class is...how math relates to our own course of study
It might help if you provided your course of study (degree field), and some of your thoughts on the matter.

i need to...understand how it relates to my life and degree program.
We are unlikely to know how whatever you're studying "relates" to whatever is going on in your life. These are questions only you can answer. Sorry.

i am not looking for answers or analysis, i was hoping for information on each topic.
The very nature of your questions demands "answers" and "analysis", so I'm afraid I do not understand this statement.
Since your book does not cover these topics (?!?), you will need to start by telling us what you know, so we can try to figure out where you need to go from there.
For instance, since you seem not to be aware of the answer to the second question, I will guess that you don't know the meaning of "curvilinear" or "linear". You'll need to start by looking up these words. Then you'll want to study some lessons on linear equations (solving, graphing, etc.), followed by some lessons on systems of linear equations (including the various types of systems and the various methods of solving). This may be sufficient (along with the definition of "curvilinear") for you to start work on a discussion of this topic.
But since covering this material takes weeks or months in a classroom, I'm sure you can understand why we can't give a "fifty words or less" "informational" reply to your query.
Thank you for your understanding.
Eliz.
