Can someone please help me with this:

2x + 3y =5
5x - 2y =-16

what is the value of x?

Let's multiply the first equation by 2, and the second by 3:

[MATH]4x+6y=10[/MATH]
[MATH]15x-6y=-48[/MATH]
Now add the equations, and \(y\) will be eliminated, and you can solve for \(x\). What do you get?
