Create a linear equation in one variable to solve the following:
Central Park, which lies in the middle of Manhattan, is rectangular-shaped and has a 6-mile perimeter. The length is 5 times the width. What are the dimensions of the park?

let w be the width
then the length = 5w

the perimeter = 2[5w]+2[w] =6
5w+w=3
6w=3
w=1/2 mile
l= 2 1/2 mile
