Left and right estimates using numeric integration?

I have no idea how my teacher found these numbers! I need to know how to do this.

For your Excel worksheet, for a given value n = #steps, you will need a column with n+1 values of x, evenly spaced from -3 to -1. Next will be a column with values of the integrand function. For "Left," sum from 1 to n. For "Right," sum from 2 to n+1. Don't forget to multiply by dx.
