I have been stumped on this problem for 2 days, I figured how they have A) 48 Hrs as answer 1. stuck on how 240 miles comes into a answer?

Here is the question.
Bonita Traveled 108 Miles in 2 1/4 hours

Write a question about the facts if the answer is:

A) 48 Miles
B) 240 Miles

please help!

For A- my question stated “ how many miles did Bonita travel in 1 hour? “
This means they divide and figure the answer to 48.

This means they divide and figure the answer to 48.

Good work. Not a bad answer at all.

However, "in one hour" may be too restrictive. Which hour? Perhaps an average number miles (per hour)?

Said another way, If B. went 46 miles in the 1st hour, and then 12 miles in the next 1/4 hour, and finished up with 50 miles in the last hour, in which hour did B. actually go 48 miles? There is such an hour, but it's not as obvious as it could be.

I think I'd stick with the AVERAGE distance travelled (per hour).

This means they divide and figure the answer to 48.

To use 240, just think about how many hours it would take to go that far, and put it into the form of a question.

For part A, you might just want to add, "... assuming she drove at a constant speed".

Note that 240 miles is 5*48miles. That should help. If not, let us know and we will give you a hint.
