Latex Formatting

Is there anyway to line-up regular text and LaTex in the same line.

If we mix those two - LaTex takes almost super-script position (as if telling me that it is superior script).
 
I thought I had \(\displaystyle already fixed\) the problems with \(\displaystyle LaTeX formatting\)... don't know why it's doing that now. I'll take a look.
 
Looking at what you posted, Ted, I wonder if perhaps there is some "alignment" setting which is currently set to "baseline", so everything is "sitting" on the same line.

That is, the regular text sits on a line, with j's and g's tails falling below the line, but with LaTeX sitting on or above the line, so, for instance, a subscript "pushes" the whole LaTeX expression above the surrounding text.

I'm just guessing, of course; I've never worked with that end of things....
