Kite Height Problem

You've a bunch of triangles. Did you draw a picture?

Draw the pilot.

From the head of the pilot, draw a horizontal line.

From the head of the pilot, draw another line somewhat in the same direction as the horizontal but angled above the horizontal. Label this line (we'll make it a segment later) 300 ft. Lable the angle 42 degrees. This is the kite string line. We're ignoring that it sags a little.

Somewhere on these two lines, pick a spot and construct a perpendicular to the horizontal line. Extend it upward until it hits the kite string line. Put the kite at the intersection of the vertical and the kite string.

Don't forget to label the perpendicular.

What do you know of the sine and cosine function? You may need them, now.
