lets say ANYTHING is possible... I have a giant scale for measuring weight that is in the shape of the roof of a house. As the snow builds up and melts away over and over again creating HUGE icicles that hang down to just above the ground. Lets say that weighs 1 Ton. NOW the icicles keep growing and build strong supportive connections with the ground. Does what's still on the roof carry the same weight (assuming no accum or evap) or does the support from the ground lessen the effect of the mass on the scale?

Think about it this way:

You are laying on your stomach - on the floor - with your leg and arms slightly lifted from the ground. You feel load on your stomach.

Then let your leg and arms fall on the ground.

Gradually start to support your load on your arms and legs - stomach still touching the ground. As you put more load on the arms and leg - what happens to the load on your stomach. You can observe it by putting a scale under your stomach.
