1. Okay set notations are made like this: {x|x < 4}


2. Okay now if you translated this to plain english, it would say: "The set of all numbers of x, such that x is less than 4."


3. :x Now my question is this, isn't this a bit redundant to have two "x's" to display and describe this expression. Isn't the 1st "x" the same as the 2nd "x ?"
 
It might seem redundant in such a simplistic case, but sets can be much more complicated. Wait a few years, and you may get into situations where you understand the need for such notation.
