inverse variation: how long for 6 people to complete job?

It takes 16 hours for 2 people to resurface a gym floor. How long would it take 6 people to do the job?

All i know is that the formula is Y=k/x.

Any kind of help would be really appreciated
 
For one, you already know the formula to this problem.
Make variables for your numbers.

y=k/x

x=16 people
y=2 hours
x=6people
y=? hours


Plug the numbers in.

2=k/16

2(16)=k
32=k
You have the value for k, so substiute k and x as 6 in the formula
y=k/x
It would look someting like this y=32/6
Just divide and you get your outcome.
