Inverse Tangent???

Do you have a calculator? If so, compute 2nd or inverse and then push Tan.

When i did that..

the answer came to 1.4835...

but its a multiple choice ? and the answers they gave me were:

27, 32, and 85..
 
Hmm you are doing something wrong. Try it again. Type in 11.4301, then push 2nd or Inverse, then push Tan, and you should get 85.
 
your calculator is set to the radian mode.

tan<sup>-1</sup>(11.4301) = 1.4835 radians

change your calculator's mode to degrees ...

tan<sup>-1</sup>(11.4301) = 85 degrees
