I can find inverse functions very well but I got stuck with the following two questions.

Can I have some tips?

1. Find the inverse of f(x) = 8/(9-3x).

2. Find the inverse of f(x) = cuberoot{x-2}.

f(x) = 8/(9-3x)

This one is not difficult. Can you show one you have solved?

Swap
x = 8/(9-3y)

Solve
9-3y = 8/x
9-(8/x) = 3y
\(\displaystyle 3 - \frac{8}{3x} = y = f^{-1}(x)\)

You can always check the property \(\displaystyle f(f^{-1}(x)) = x\)

ok

That's the same answer I got but the book has a different answer.

Do math books have a lot of typos?

That will depend upon the book under discussion.

What answer did your book give?

Thank you.

Eliz.

Are you sure those parentheses were in there? That's just wrong.
