With this problem I came up with this:
3x + y =13
2x +9y = -8

2x + 9(13 - 3x) = -8
2x + 117 - 27x = -8 - 117
90x = 125

After this I'm lost
Please HELP!

2x + 117 - 27x = -8 - 117 We may not subtract 117 from only one side of the equation.

Did you make a typographical error ?

90x = 125 90x is not correct.

What is 2 minus 27 ?
