Problem 1 solve the equation:
21/20x + 1/20x = 9x + 1/10 + 19/20x

Problem 2 solve the formula for the indicated letter:
A=1/2h(b1 + b2) for b1

Hi!
I got for the first problem:
A quadratic equation, with roots:
x1=0.1236
x2= 0.134
For the second problem,
b1=1/(2hA)-b2
I hope this helps, check it with your own work, let me know if you need something else,

I think that the original poster should confirm whether or not the two given equations match the following. (My results differ from garfs'.)

Typing 21/20x + 1/20x = 9x + 1/10 + 19/20x means:

\(\displaystyle \frac{21}{20}x \ + \ \frac{1}{20}x \ = \ 9x \ + \ \frac{1}{10} \ + \ \frac{19}{20}x\)

Typing A=1/2h(b1 + b2) means:

\(\displaystyle A \ = \ \frac{1}{2} \ h \ (b_1 \ + \ b_2)\)
