Its been a long time since I took calculus in college. I have been brushing up just for the fun of it.
I have a text problem I don't understand how to solve.

Find the indefinite integral of dx/4*sqrt(x)
the answer is given as: 1/2 x^1/2 + C

Could someone step through this for me?

Power rule

1/sqrt(x) = x^(-1/2)

Treat the exponent as if it were anything but -1.

Thank you.

As an aside, where does one get the math font used in this forum by some?

Look up LaTeX. You will have to learn to code it. Most things can be learned quickly.

Your integral, for example:

\(\displaystyle \int \frac{dx}{4\cdot\sqrt{x}}\)

Is coded (without the spaces)

\ i n t \ f r a c { d x } { 4 \ c d o t \ s q r t { x } }

Then you use the TEX button at the top of the edit window. It is VERY helpful to learn even a tiny amount of it.
