Please help me with this problem. I need to subtract -1/2 - (-5/8). My formula is -1/2 + 5/8 = 6/8=3/4. Is this correct? Please advise. Thank you.

I need to subtract -1/2 - (-5/8). My formula is -1/2 + 5/8 = 6/8=3/4

-1/2 + 5/8 = -4/8 + 5/8 = 1/8

-1/2-(-5/8) = -1/2 + 5/8 = (-1(4))/(2(4)) + 5/8 = -4/8+5/8 = 1/8
