Hi :D
i have a test in a few months and i have some questions about this topic:

Trigonometry.JPG

  • Are general angles the ones in the trigonometric circle if not what are these called?
  • Are the basic properties of trigonometric functions domain, range, period, etc or are there any others?
  • Are addition theorems the same as sum identities? And if they are, do they have any other applications besides the following: sin (75) =sin (45+30)
  • Do I have to learn sinusoidal functions?

Thanks in advance :D

Are general angles the ones in the trigonometric circle Yes

Are the basic properties of trigonometric functions domain, range, period Yes (also amplitude)

Do I have to learn sinusoidal functions? Perhaps (things like stretches, contractions, phase shifts); ask your school

Are addition theorems the same as sum identities? Yes

And if they are, do they have any other applications besides the following: sin (75) =sin (45+30) This is not an example of applying an addition theorem.

See this page, for the sum identities and some applications:

If you are planning to continue in mathematics, then learning trig. identities and how to apply them is extremely important. :D

sorry i forgot to add [the rest of the example]...

Yes, that is a good example of the usefulness of the sum identities. 75 degrees is not one of the general angles, but, by breaking 75 into a sum of known angles 45 and 30, we can find its trigonometric values.

...i can't ask my school because...they don't teach about [sinusoidal functions]. What do you recommend...i don't know if it is necessary...
Who is giving you the test in a few months, and why are you taking the test?

The embassy of japan ( in costa rica ),is because i want a scholarship for studying in japan.
The mathematics i learn in school is not enough to win the scholarship and in the embassy they only give some tests for practice, i found a syllabus in internet for admission test in japanese universities but the syllabus doesn't explain well what i need to learn, about each topic
