In a survey of 240 married couples who recently purchased a home in a certain metropolitan area, researchers found that in 160 cases the wife was the one who primarily influenced the choice of house bought. Do these data provide sufficient evidence to indicate that in this area more than 60 percent of the home-buying decisions are influenced primarily by the wife?

Hypothesis testing for proportions.

\(\displaystyle \L\\H_{0}:p\leq{0.60} \;\ and \;\ \underbrace{H_{a}:p>0.60}_{\text{Claim}}\)

\(\displaystyle \L\\z=\frac{\hat{p}-p}{\sqrt{\frac{pq}{n}}}\)

Test at, say, \(\displaystyle {\alpha}=0.05\)
