please help me with inequalities.
right now i'm in an international high school in china and we are learning how to solve inequalities only, not graph them.
the problem is, i'm not sure how to solve linear and quadratic inequalities step by step.
also, i get lost on the positivity and negativity of the intervals.

Well, stop getting lost.

Solve the Equality.
Test the intervals.

If the interval includes x = 0, try x = 0 in the original expression and see if it works. If it works, that interval is part of the solution set. Do the same with all other intervals.
