A linear inequality is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin - it's an inequality that is linear. The real question then becomes: What is the definition of "linear" in this context? What does your textbook and/or class notes say on this matter? As a hint, consider what a linear equation is, and then consider the difference between an equation and an inequality.
