we build cabinets for kitchens, because we are a production shop,
we keep material stock for sizes ranging from 12 to 60 inches in width in increments of 3 inches
so we have 12" then 15" then 18" cabinets and so on.the layout tech then select different sizes to cover the wall with the cabinets ,normal width of wall from 10 ft to 20 ft .because of better finish, now we use a filler cabinet which can have any size.Plant manager want to increase the increments to 1.5 inches basically doubling the material stock.I believe that instead of decreasing the the increments we should increase them to 6 " ranging from 12"to 48".for me this is common sense
but i want the math to prove it.i have been trying to find a way to do it ,but i can not find it.if you kindly point me in the right direction
thank in advance.

Review recent orders (no idea how many) and update them based on
A. availability of 1.5" increments and filler cabinets
B. availability of 6" increments and filler cabinets
Calculate new costs (I'm assuming it costs more to install filler cabinets), take into account additional cost of doubling stock for 1.5" increments.
Compare the bottom lines.
