Implicit Differentiation notation: Is dy/dx the same as y' ?

I just want to verify that I understand the notation for implicit differentiation.

Is \(\displaystyle \frac{dy}{dx}\) the same as \(\displaystyle y'\)? This same website suggests so: http://www.sosmath.com/calculus/diff/der05/der05a.html

Generally, those would be the same. Of course, if y = f(z), that's another story.

and, generally,

\(\displaystyle \frac{dy}{dt} \, = \, \.y\)
