1. Mr. Lee bought 26 tickets to a sports arena and spent $122. He bought a combo of adult and child tickets for $6(adult) and $4(child) each. How many child tickets did he buy??

2. Write an equation in slope-intercept form[y=mx+b] of the line that passes through (9, -4) and has a slope of -6.

3. Solve each system of equations.
i) y=2x+1
y=3x-3

ii)6x+5y=6
y=2x-6

You ARE confused. You must show us SOMETHING or we ahve nothing to work with. Yousimply must have SOME idea or you are in the wrong class or something else is seriously wrong.

#3 looks the easiest. Give that a shot. Use properties related to the reflexive equality of 'y' to find a good value for 'x'. To put that a bit more plainly,

If M = House and M = Frog, then it is very reasonable to conclude that House = Frog. You tell me why.

Take a look below, I've helped you with past 3i and 3ii. See if you can work out what I've done.

3.i.

y=2x+1
y=3x-3

therefore 2x+1 = 3x-3
therefore collect all the terms with x in it on one side and all the terms without x on the other. x = 4

You can check if its right by putting 4 back into the original equation.

3ii

6=6x +5y
y=2x -6

therefore putting y into the first equation;
6=6x +5(2x-6)
6=6x +10x-30
36=16x
2.25= x

therefore

y=2(2.25) -6
y=-1.5

Formula explanation

y = mx + b

y (any y point on the graph or line)
m (slope)
x (any x point on the graph or line)
b (y intercept- where the line intercepts the y axis when x=0)

For example if we have the point 3,8 and a slope of -4
y= slope times x + y-intercept
We can write 8= (-4) * 3 + b
8= -12 + b
20 = b

We can then say y = -6x + 20
