I really really need help

2.4(5c-4)=7c-5 (1-c)

Solving for c

1) Distribute first
2) Combine Like Terms (they should appear on the right hand side of the equation)
3) Use addition or subtraction property of equality to gather variables on one side and combine
4) Use addition or subtraction property of equality to gather constants on the opposite side
5) Use multiplication or division property of equality to solve for the variable

If the variables drop out in step 3, look at what you have left. Is it a true or false statement? There are equations where there are no solutions, and there are identities, which means any number would satisfy the equation.

Assuming this is 4(5c- 4), you need to "distribute" the first 4: 4(5c)- 4(4)= (4*5)c- 4*4. Do you know what 4*5 and 4*4 are?
On the right side, again, "distribute" the 5: 5(1- c)= 5(1)- 5(c)= 5- 5c.

2.4(5c-4)=7c-5 (1-c)

2.4(5c-4)=7c-5
12c-9.6=7c-5+5c
12c-7c-5c=-5+9.6
0=4.6

the equation does not have an answer!

update: if you meant 4(5c-4)=7c-5 (1-c) then it would be this way:
4(5c-4)=7c-5 (1-c)
20c-16=7c-5+c
20c-7c-c=-5+16
12c=11
c=11/12

20c-16=7c-5+c \(\displaystyle \ \ \ \ \)Incorrect. \(\displaystyle \ \ \)20c - 16 = 7c - 5 + 5c \(\displaystyle \ \ \ \) See below.
20c-7c-c=-5+16
12c=11
c=11/12

20c - 16 = 7c - 5 + 5c

20c - 16 = 12c - 5

20c - 12c = -5 + 16

8c = 11

c = 11/8
