Do you mean if [MATH]x^2-px+q[/MATH] is a factor of [MATH]x^3+3px^2+3px+r[/MATH] show [MATH]q=-2p^2[/MATH] and [MATH]r=-8p^3[/MATH]?

Please do as you were asked, and show what you have done. We know (probably) that it will not be correct or complete, but it will show us where you need help, and provide a starting point for discussion.

Have you tried just doing long division?
