A farmer has to buy 100 animals. He has $1000.00 dollars. Pigs cost $50.00, Ducks cost $10.00, and Hamsters cost $0.50 cents. How many of each animal can the farmer buy?
I need the answer please. What kind of Algebra problem is this considered and do you think it's to hard / complicated for a child in the fourth Grade?

Thanks

It's been over 20 years since I've taken an algebra class. My son is in an advanced math class. If possible can you suggest any books I can buy that can assist me with helping him. Sometimes I think we as parents and teachers we put too much pressure on our childern? Again thanks I know I'll be using this site again.

Thanks

Go to www.artofproblemsolving.com

They sell many nice publications for his age and advancement. Congratulations on having a gifted child. Learning systems of linear equations in the 4th grade, he must be very bright.

\(\displaystyle D=100\ is\ an\ alternative\ solution.\)

\(\displaystyle D=100, P=0, H=0\)

\(\displaystyle The\ farmer\ may\ also\ buy\ numerous\ combinations\ of\ animals\ for\ less\ than\ 1000\ dollars,\ saving\ money.\)
