find the volume of the solid generated by revolving the shaded region about the given axis

- about the x-axis
- graph is ---> y = 9 - x^2 and x = 3
- and the shaded ares is from x=0 to x=3

how would i type this into my calculator to find the answer....i know you plug in the function into y=...but then how to a type in the bounds, basically i need a step by step process on the steps on how to get check my answer in the calculator!

oh and i have a ti-84

Putting the function into the Y= list only allows the TI-84 to plot the graph on the xy-plane. The TI-84 will neither "revolve" the graph nor calculate the volume, using this approach.

If you do the exercise using paper and pencil, instead, then the TI-84 can be used to check your work, by providing a numerical result for the integral.

What have you done on this exercise so far ?

I do not believe the TI84 does integration outright, but there are programs available online you can download that does them for the TI84.

Ah, galactus is correct. I guessed wrongly.

I just searched the TI-84 .pdf manual for the word "integrate", and it does not appear.

This model does not have a built-in function for numerical integration.
