If anybody knows how to do this, and is willing to help me. your my effing hero!! xo!

kayy umm..

You have found a treasure map leading to a pirates buried treasure his instructions are to walk 50 paces East from a dead tree & 23 paces North. What is the angle formed between the route he took & the route to go directly from the tree to the treasure? How many paces in the new direct route?

&

Two fire towers are 575m apart. The 1st tower is 14m high, the 2nd is 30m high.
(a.) what is the angle of depression from the top of the 1st tower?
(b.) the patrollers in each tower spot a fire at the same time. The angle of depression from the lower tower is 1.6 degrees & from the higher tower the angle is 3.4 degrees. Which tower is closer to the fire.?

UGH I HATE WORD PROBLEMS--->
If anybody can spare the time to help me with these. then THANK YOU. xox

1) Draw the right triangle. Label the base as "50" and the height as "23". Use the Pythegorean Theorem to find the length of the direct route. Use, say, the inverse tangent function to find the (approximate) measure of the angle between the base and the hypotenuse.

2-a) "From the top of the first tower" to what? The target is not specified.

2-b) Draw the two right triangles, using the given heights and angles. (Recall that "angle of depression" refers to the measure of the angle below the horizontal. For your right triangles, naturally, you'll be using the complement.) Use inverse trig functions (I would suggest using the tangent) to find the lengths of the bases. Then compare.

If you get stuck, please reply showing how far you have gotten. Thank you.

Have you done anything with them yet? I mean, if you have started on these, please post the steps you've tried already. This would make it easier for us to help :).

2 (a.) my teachers a moron.
" you place the fire "
she says that we have to find a place for it but it cannot be in the middle .. :?
..Thanks soo much for your helppp.!!

Oka, i finished the 2 HARDEST questions on the test. all thanks to YOU!!. thanks soo much. your so nice. & SMART.

I think the best way to do this probelm is to draw out a diagram with the 50 and 23 paces looking ike a triangle. Then, as others have said, use the pythagorean to find the measure of the angle.

Why are you posting replies to threads that were completed weeks ago?
