Rich knows that his neighbor Jessi paid $40152.23, including sales tax, for a new car. If the sales tax rate is 8.3%, what is the cost of the car before the tax?

Haven't quite seen your efforts. Haven't really seen a good question, either.

"A carpenter used 30.7 feet of molding in three pieces to trim a garage door. If the longest piece was 2.3 feet longer than twice the length of each shorter piece, how long was the longest piece? "

Are the shorter pieces the same length?
