i am making a coat hanger that is 178 cm high and i dont know how to calculate how big the base plate should be so that it dosent fall over when i hang coats on it.

176cm high
28.5 cm wide
28.5 cm depth
Weight 4.13kg

If your stand is 178 cm then I would make it 29 cm wide to give it that little bit extra stability.

I would make the base wide enough - so that no coat will be hanging beyond the outer boundary of the base.
