However, if you had posted: Simplify: (5w^2 - 80) / (w^2 + 2w - 24) which would have been equivalent to: 5w2−80w2+2w−24\displaystyle \frac{5w^2 - 80}{w^2 + 2w - 24}w2+2w−245w2−80 this can be simplified meaningfully. As a first step - factorize the numerator and the denominator, and show us where you are stuck.
