I have this equation I am solving in chemistry.

q=m*c*DeltaT (can't find how to do the Delta T symbol on here). Anyway, I need to rearrange it to get DeltaT = .. How do I go about rearranging it? I'm not sure about the steps. I tried dividing the ones on the right to the left to cancel them out but it didn't work for me. Thanks!

P.S. I have it solved in my book actually as AT=q / m(c). I need to know how it was done though. Thanks! (AT being delta t).

How would you rearrange 6 = 3x for "x="? Do the same thing here.

That would be 6/x = 3. Unless x can be on the right side, then 2 = x.

But here I'm having problems because do I divide m, c, and AT seperately to the left side? And I can't end up with q on top, just AT = m(c) / q. Rather confused although I know it's probably pretty simple.

Thanks so much for your help!

Divide both sides by (m*c)

Aha, thank you! Now it clicked.

So I can use two variables at one time when rearranging equations? x=b*c*d can be x/c*d = b, then switch it around and have simply b = x/c*d ? Muchos gracias.

x/(c*d) = b, <<< Need to have those parenthesis - otherwise meaning is changed - order of operation

then switch it around and have simply b = x/c*d ? <<< No need to switch around - but nothing wrong if it makes you feel better!!

Muchos gracias.
