my question is, how the heck does one make quotes and such when i highlite a name and hit the quote button all i get is "[ quote ]"

sorry again this doesnt fit into this category, but it would be good to learn how to do such things for the future

Well, this board doesn't have a "testing" category, so I guess "other" is as good a place as any for formatting questions.

Either hit "reply with quote", to get the quote already inserted, with the name, in the message-entry box, or hit the "Quote" button to start a quote of whatever sort you like. Remember to close your tags.
