Hello

My question is if you make $30 per hour and work a 40 hour week you would be paid $1200 but in reality you only spent 30 of those hours working.. is there a single equation that would tell you your hourly rate?

Much thanks!

Why is that? Are you allowed to take 25% of your workhours as breaks (e.g. lunch, etc.)?

If, "in reality" you spend 30 hours working (what are you doing the other 10 hours- I remember working 8 hours a day with two 15 minute breaks and 1/2 hour for lunch. That accounts for 1 hour a day so 5 hours a week. What about the other 5 hours?) and are paid $1200 for those 30 hours, that is a rate of 1200/30= 120/3= $40 per hour. Wow- I remember working, as a member of the teamster's union, for $1.33 per hour! (Yes, I really am that old.)

much appreciated.

That excluded.

plain and simple, no other factors, your paid X amount of dollars for x amount of work (hours) AND were paid X but in reality only worked for X amount of that time you how much did you make per hour? Yes I get it, divide the sum by hours worked but I am looking for a formula..

example:

Steve worked for 40 hours but only spent 27 of those hours actually working.. if he made 33 per hour, how much much did he actually make per hour working only 27 of those?

Thank you Denis, Halls and Sub for your responses!!

Denis, its not silly, I am just dumb.. :)

Thank you!!!
