What is the problem? What do you have to do/show?

Please show us your work, indicating exactly where you are stuck, so that we know where to begin to help you.

Although you do not state it, I assume that the problem asks you to solve for x.

3(2x+3)/5 = 7
First multiply by 5 to get rid of the fraction:
3(2x+3)/5 • 5 = 7 • 5
3(2x + 3) = 35
Now distribute the 3 over the 2x + 3:
6x + 9 = 35
Subtract 9 from both sides:
6x + 9 - 9 = 35 - 9
6x = 26
Divide both sides by 6:
6x ÷ 6 = 26 ÷ 6
x = 16/6 or 13/3 or 4 1/3

Ted, can you give FastEdward a trophy, then a one-way ticket to another site ? :wink:

There are no grounds for awarding fasteddie a trophy (except, perhaps, in his own mind), but the one-way ticket is a good idea.

I think we are being a little too critical. I have seen signs of change in his latest response:

I've been communicating with Fast Eddie via private messaging during the past few days.

We recently finished going over the administrative discussion regarding complete solutions.

I became somewhat stern with him day before yesterday, after which Fast Eddie asked me questions to clarify points in that discussion, so we'll see how it goes ...
