(9/c)-(8/c)=1/4

First do the following - without using calculator - find the value of (as a fraction)

9/7 - 8/7 = ???

\(\displaystyle \frac{9}{c}-\frac{8}{c}=\frac{1}{4}\)

A good approach to solving this is to first, determine the least common denominator. Once you have that, multiply through (all terms on both sides of the equation) by that lcd. That will leave you with a simple equation with no fractions which will be solved easily.
