Suppose we have a neural network trying to distinguish between 2 objects cats and dogs. In practice, this loss function will depend on many parameters, but we will look at an example where there are only two variables in the loss function, and a known relationship between the two.

Hello. For part (a), solve the second equation for y, then substitute the result for y in the first equation. Next, multiply out the squares and combine like-terms.
