The volume, V, of a sphere of radius r is given by V= (4pi radiuscubed)/(3). Solving for r in terms of V gives

r = f(V) = ((3V)/(4pi))to the third (1/3, exponent)

Calculate the average rate of change of r with respect to V over the intervals 0.5 is less than or equal to V is less than or equal to 1.5.

average rate of change is \(\displaystyle \frac{f(x_{1})-f({x_{0}})}{x_{1}-x_{0}}\)

Use the formula to find the radius at V=1/2 and 3/2 and subtract.

The denominator is 3/2 - 1/2 =1.
