I know that the slope has to be -1 and I have to draw a line that is perpendicular to the line I make with the slope of -1 I know that m1*m2=-1 i just do not understand the process of getting there :(

Hi leeamy,

You need a point that the line passes through to define the equation.
If you just need to draw a line with slope = -1, start at the origin (0, 0), move up one unit, then left one unit to find a second point.
Draw the line through these two points.
Using y = mx + b, the equation of this line would be y = -x

To draw a line perpendicular to this line through the origin (0, 0), we use the negative reciprical of the slope of the other line.
That would be +1. Your understanding that m1*m2=-1 is right on. The product of the slopes of a line and its perpendicular is -1.
From (0, 0), move up one unit, then right one unit to find a second point.
Draw the line through these two points.
Using y=mx+b, the equation of this line would be y = x
