I suppose you want to evaluate the given numerical expression.

let:

a = \(\displaystyle \sqrt{2{\sqrt{2}} \ + \ \sqrt{7}}\)

b = \(\displaystyle \sqrt{2{\sqrt{2}} \ - \ \sqrt{7}}\).........................edited

First calculate:

(a + b)²

continue......

Ehm... Are you sure about that? If that were true then \(\sqrt{7} = 0\) which is definitely not the case.
